Cultural Heritage

Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Cultural heritage services spanning tangible heritage and archaeology, intangible cultural heritage, and long-term management planning, managed as part of cultural heritage risk across the project lifecycle, to UNESCO, ICOMOS and World Heritage Site standards.

Tangible and intangible heritage

Tangible and intangible heritage may be very different, yet they can also be so interconnected that they can be described as two sides of the same coin. Carrying meaning and the embedded memory of humanity, tangible and intangible heritage rely on each other when it comes to understanding their meanings and importance.

We advise across the full breadth of cultural heritage: tangible heritage and tangible archaeology, the historic buildings, monuments, landscapes and buried remains that most assessments address, and intangible cultural heritage (ICH), the living practices, knowledge and traditions that carry equal weight under UNESCO and lender frameworks.

Intangible cultural heritage, living and community heritage

Intangible cultural heritage (ICH), living heritage and community heritage are frequently the hardest elements for a project to identify and manage. We assess ICH and living heritage, design community heritage engagement, and integrate the findings into impact assessment, stakeholder engagement and management planning so that intangible values are recognised rather than overlooked.

Conservation Management Plans and Cultural Heritage Management Plans

We prepare Conservation Management Plans (CMP) for heritage assets and places, and Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMP) for projects, setting out significance, policies and the practical management measures that keep heritage protected through change. Both are prepared to recognised conservation and lender standards.

UNESCO, ICOMOS and World Heritage

Advisory aligned with UNESCO, ICOMOS and World Heritage Site (WHS) expectations, including heritage impact assessment for World Heritage properties and sustainable heritage tourism and management planning.
